限られた資源の中でも、柔軟な発想と現場感覚を活かし、新しい価値を社会に提供することを目指しています。

小さな組織だからこそできること

年間予算は決して大きくはありません。

しかし私たちは、

「小規模だからこそ、迅速かつ柔軟に動ける」

ことを強みとしています。

市民目線と実践的視点を大切にしながら、持続可能で自立的な活動を続けています。

国際経験と環境技術への歩み

私は1981年に渡欧し、スペインで空手指導に携わった後、米国カリフォルニア州オークランドに本社を置く企業で勤務し、国際的な経験を積みました。

帰国後は、エネルギー・環境問題が今後の社会において極めて重要な課題になると考え、企業勤務の傍ら理系大学・大学院で学びを続けました。

10年以上にわたり自然科学分野を学び、環境学修士号を取得しています。

その後、有休を活用し東京都葛飾区立石の東京試機株式会社にて製造技術を学び、モノづくりの基礎を体系的に習得しました。

また、「ソフト・エネルギー研究会」を設立し、研究所OBや技術者との交流を通じて、現場に根ざした技術と知見の蓄積を進めてまいりました。

これまでの主な取り組み

これまで、

  • 水質改善装置「アオコバスター」
    　（荏原実業株式会社との共同開発）
  • 富栄養化湖沼における野菜栽培システム「マルチラフ」
    　（千葉大学園芸学部との共同研究）

など、環境改善を目的とした多様なプロジェクトに携わってきました。

1997年には、海運業界における環境負荷低減を目的として「省エネルギー輸送対策会議」を設立。

その後、「ソフト・エネルギー研究会」と統合し、2002年に「特定非営利活動法人エスコット（NPO ESCOT）」として再編いたしました。

貸し借りレントへの取り組み

近年では、社会に存在する未活用資源を有効活用するため、

「貸し借りレント（Kashikari.rent）」

の運営にも取り組んでいます。

これは、

  • モノ
  • スペース
  • 技術
  • 人的能力
  • 物流資源

などを必要とする人へつなぐ「社会資源共有プラットフォーム」です。

単なるリユースやレンタルではなく、

「今ある社会資源を活かして、持続可能な社会をつくる」

という考え方を重視しています。

また、物流分野では、空コンテナや未活用輸送能力を活かした効率化・CO₂削減にも挑戦しています。

現在取り組んでいること

現在エスコットでは、

  • 環境・エネルギー分野における装置開発
  • システム構築
  • 教育プログラム提供
  • 社会資源共有システムの構築

を行っています。

特に近年は、

「海面水温上昇」

という地球規模課題に注目し、低資源・ゼロエネルギー型技術の研究開発に力を注いでいます。

2019年の房総半島台風を契機として、海面冷却を目的とした

「波動式湧昇ポンプ（Ocean Muddler）」

の開発に着手し、現在も継続的にデータ収集・解析を進めています。

空手を通じた国際交流

また、健康維持と国際交流を目的として、

「インターナショナル空手道場」

を運営し、心身の調和と国際的な友好の輪を広げる活動にも取り組んでいます。

Message from the President

Creating a Sustainable Future Through Environment and Technology

NPO ESCOT is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating new value in the fields of environment and energy through technological innovation and practical implementation.

We believe that:

are essential for building a better future.

With the support of more than 50 companies, organizations, and individuals, we continue to promote a wide range of research and development activities.

The Strength of a Small Organization

Although our annual budget is modest — approximately two million yen — we believe our greatest strength lies in our flexibility and ability to act quickly.

By maintaining a citizen-oriented and practical perspective, we continue pursuing sustainable and independent activities.

International Experience and Environmental Innovation

In 1981, I traveled to Europe and taught karate in Spain before gaining professional experience with a U.S.-based company headquartered in Oakland, California.

After returning to Japan, I became convinced that environmental and energy issues would become critical global challenges.

While continuing my professional career, I pursued academic studies in science and engineering for more than ten years and earned a master’s degree in environmental studies.

Later, I studied manufacturing technology at Tokyo Shiki Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, where I developed a practical foundation in engineering and production methods.

At the same time, I established the Soft Energy Research Association, creating opportunities for collaboration with retired engineers and researchers to share practical knowledge and technical expertise.

Major Activities and Projects

Over the years, I have participated in numerous environmental improvement projects, including:

  • “Aoko Buster”
    — a water purification system co-developed with Ebara Jitsugyo Co., Ltd.
  • “Multi-Raph”
    — a vegetable cultivation system for eutrophic lakes developed with Chiba University.

In 1997, I founded the Energy-Saving Transport Council to promote environmental efficiency in the shipping industry.

This initiative later merged with the Soft Energy Research Association and was reorganized in 2002 as the Non-Profit Organization ESCOT (NPO ESCOT).

Kashikari.rent — Sharing Social Resources

In recent years, we have also launched and operated:

“Kashikari.rent”

a social resource-sharing platform designed to connect unused or underutilized resources with people who need them.

The platform supports the sharing of:

  • goods,
  • spaces,
  • technical skills,
  • human expertise,
  • and logistics resources.

Our goal is not simply reuse or rental.

Rather, we aim to create a more sustainable society by making effective use of existing social resources.

In the logistics sector, we are also working to improve transport efficiency and reduce CO₂ emissions through the utilization of empty containers and unused transportation capacity.

Current Focus

Today, ESCOT develops:

  • environmental technologies,
  • energy-related systems,
  • educational programs,
  • and social resource-sharing systems.

In recent years, we have focused particularly on the issue of rising sea surface temperatures and the development of low-resource, zero-energy technologies that help stabilize the marine environment.

Following the 2019 Boso Peninsula Typhoon, we initiated the development of the wave-actuated upwelling pump known as the:

“Ocean Muddler”

designed to cool surface seawater layers.

We continue collecting and analyzing data as part of this ongoing research project.

International Exchange Through Karate

In addition, I operate an International Karate Dojo to promote:

  • health,
  • lifelong learning,
  • and international friendship

through martial arts and cultural exchange.

Looking Ahead

Moving forward, NPO ESCOT will continue contributing to:

  • environmental innovation,
  • effective utilization of social resources,
  • harmony with local communities,
  • and international exchange,

toward the creation of a more sustainable future.
